Dwarf Giraffe Nosed Catfish Notoglanidium Macrostoma 6cm Overview: Meet the captivating Dwarf Giraffe Nosed Catfish! Notoglanidium Macrostoma, known for its unique elongated snout resembling a giraffe's neck, is a charming addition to any aquarium. With its distinctive appearance and peaceful demeanor, this species brings both elegance and tranquility to aquatic landscapes. Origin: Hailing from the freshwater rivers and streams of West Africa, these catfish are found in countries like Nigeria and Cameroon. Their natural habitat includes areas with slow-moving or stagnant waters, often among dense vegetation. Feeding: These omnivorous catfish readily accept a varied diet. They enjoy a mix of live and frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and high-quality sinking pellets. Supplement their diet with plant matter like blanched vegetables for a well-rounded nutritional intake. Tank Mates: Best kept in a community setup with peaceful species, as the Dwarf Giraffe Nosed Catfish is non-aggressive. Ideal tank mates include other small to medium-sized peaceful fish like tetras, rasboras, and peaceful dwarf cichlids. Avoid housing them with overly aggressive or territorial species. Aggression: Known for their calm temperament, these catfish are non-aggressive and tend to shy away from conflict. They prefer hiding spots among driftwood, caves, or vegetation and are more active during the evening hours. Experience Level: Recommended for aquarists with moderate experience in maintaining freshwater aquariums. While not overly demanding in care requirements, their specific dietary needs and preference for specific water conditions warrant some experience in aquatic husbandry. Water Parameters: Maintain water temperatures between 72-78°F (22-26°C), a pH range of 6.5-7.5, and soft to moderately hard water with a dGH of 5-12. Regular water changes are essential to ensure optimal water quality.Above images for illustration purposes only. Exact colours, patterns, and size may vary between individuals.
