Overview:
The Emerald Green Rainbowfish is a rare and beautiful species known for its shimmering green iridescence, subtle body stripes, and graceful schooling behavior. Males display the most vibrant coloration, especially during courtship, ranging from emerald to bluish-green, often with hints of gold or silver. This peaceful, active fish is a perfect addition to a well-planted community aquarium or a specialized rainbowfish setup.

Origin:
Endemic to Lake Wanam in Papua New Guinea, this species is considered critically endangered in the wild due to habitat loss and introduced species. Most specimens in the hobby come from captive-bred lines, making them a valuable conservation-friendly choice.

Feeding:
Omnivorous and easy to feed. Offer a varied diet of high-quality flake or micro pellets, along with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. Include occasional vegetable-based flakes or spirulina to enhance color and digestion.

Tank Mates:
Peaceful and best kept in groups of 6 or more. Suitable tank mates include other rainbowfish, Corydoras, tetras, rasboras, gouramis, and other calm community fish. Schooling helps reduce stress and brings out natural behaviors.

• Temperature: 75–82°F (24–28°C)

• pH: 6.8–7.8

• Hardness: 5–15 dGH

• Minimum Tank Size: 30–40 gallons

• Best kept in planted tanks with open swimming space and gentle flow

Behavior & Personality:
