Flame Filefish – Pervagor melanosoma
Overview:
The Flame Filefish is a vivid and striking marine species, featuring a deep black to dark brown body with bright orange-red highlights, giving it a fiery appearance. Known for its calm temperament and unique shape, it adds color and personality to reef aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found around coral reefs, lagoons, and rocky coastal areas.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – feeds on algae, small invertebrates, and prepared marine foods. In captivity, provide a diet of spirulina, marine algae, mysis shrimp, and high-quality pellets.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful reef fish. Avoid highly aggressive species that may stress or harass the Flame Filefish.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, though may nibble on soft corals or small invertebrates in reef setups.
Experience Level:
Intermediate – ideal for aquarists experienced with stable marine aquariums and proper feeding routines.
