Four Stripe Damsel – Dascyllus melanurus

Overview:
The Four Stripe Damsel is a striking and hardy reef fish, recognized for its bold black-and-white vertical stripes that create a dramatic contrast in aquariums. Active and resilient, it’s a captivating addition to both reef and community tanks.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found around coral reefs and lagoons.

Feeding:
Omnivorous – accepts a variety of foods including marine flakes, pellets, frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and algae-based foods. A varied diet promotes bright coloration and overall health.

Tank Mates:
Best kept with semi-aggressive or similarly sized fish. While generally reef-safe, it may defend its territory, so avoid pairing with very small or timid species.

Aggression:
Semi-aggressive – territorial, particularly as it matures, but manageable in larger tanks with sufficient hiding spots.

Experience Level:
Beginner to intermediate, owing to its hardiness and adaptability, though care should be taken with tankmate selection.

Water Parameters:

• Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C)

• pH: 8.1–8.4

• Salinity: 1.020–1.025

• Minimum Tank Size: 30+ gallons
