Freckled Hawkfish – Paracirrhites forsteri
Overview:
The Freckled Hawkfish is a striking and active reef species, recognized for its speckled body pattern and elongated fins. Known for its perching behavior and curious personality, it adds both movement and visual interest to reef aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found around coral reefs, rocky outcrops, and lagoons.
Feeding:
Carnivorous – feeds on small crustaceans, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other meaty marine foods. Multiple feedings per day are recommended for optimal health.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful or moderately semi-aggressive reef fish. Avoid very small fish or invertebrates that may become prey.
Aggression:
Semi-aggressive – territorial around its perching sites, particularly toward conspecifics or similarly shaped fish.
Experience Level:
Intermediate – ideal for aquarists with well-established reef tanks featuring plenty of live rock for perching and hiding.
