French Paru Angelfish Pomacanthus Paru Overview: The French Paru Angelfish, known for its striking black body adorned with vibrant yellow rimming on its scales and fins, makes a captivating addition to any marine aquarium. This large and majestic angelfish can reach up to 15 inches in length, showcasing its elegance and beauty as it glides through the water. Origin: Native to the warm, coral-rich waters of the Western Atlantic, including the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the northern coast of South America, the French Paru Angelfish thrives in reef environments, often found exploring crevices and corals. Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, it requires a varied diet consisting of both marine algae and meaty foods. Offer a mix of high-quality marine pellets, frozen or live foods such as mysis shrimp, and fresh vegetable matter to ensure optimal health and coloration. Tank Mates: Best kept with other large, non-aggressive species, it can coexist with tangs, large Wrasses, and other similarly sized angelfish. Due to its size and potential territorial behavior, it is not recommended for reef tanks with small or shy inhabitants. Aggression: While generally peaceful towards dissimilar species, the French Paru Angelfish can exhibit territorial aggression towards its own kind or similarly shaped fish, especially in smaller aquariums. A spacious tank with plenty of hiding spots is essential to mitigate aggression.
