Fuller’s Cory (Corydoras fulleri)

Overview

Fuller’s Cory is a rare and attractive Corydoras species known for its elegant patterning, subtle metallic sheen, and calm temperament. As an active bottom-dweller, it brings constant movement and charm to peaceful community aquariums. Its rarity in the hobby makes it a prized choice for Cory collectors and planted-tank keepers.

Origin

Found in freshwater tributaries of South America, particularly in Peru. It inhabits soft, clean, slow-moving waters with sandy substrates and leaf litter.

Feeding

Omnivorous and easy to feed:

• Sinking micro-pellets and catfish wafers

• Frozen foods (bloodworms, cyclops, daphnia, brine shrimp)

• Occasional live foods for conditioning
  Avoid feeding only floating foods—them being bottom feeders, they prefer food that sinks.

Tank Mates

Ideal for peaceful community setups with:

• Small tetras and rasboras

• Dwarf cichlids (e.g., Apistogramma, Mikrogeophagus)

• Peaceful livebearers

• Other Corydoras species

• Small peaceful loaches

Avoid: Large or aggressive fish that may outcompete or intimidate them.

Aggression

Very low. Corydoras are peaceful schooling fish and should be kept in groups of 6 or more for best natural behavior.

Experience Level

Beginner to Intermediate. Hardy once established, but appreciates good water quality and a soft sandy substrate to protect their barbels.

Water Parameters

• Temperature: 72–79°F (22–26°C)

• pH: 6.0–7.5

• Hardness: 2–12 dGH

• Notes: Provide gentle filtration, sand substrate, and plenty of hiding areas using plants, driftwood, and leaf litter.
