Geophagus Dicrozoster 4cm Overview: The Geophagus Dicrozoster, a striking addition to any freshwater aquarium, is admired for its unique behavior of sifting through substrate and its vibrant coloration. Reaching up to 8 inches in length, this species showcases a mix of iridescent hues that enhance any aquatic setup. Origin: Native to the clear waters of South America, particularly in parts of the Amazon River basin, Geophagus Dicrozoster thrives in environments rich in sandy substrates and scattered vegetation. Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, their diet should include a variety of foods such as high-quality cichlid pellets, frozen or live foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms, and vegetable matter. Their unique feeding style makes them fascinating to watch as they gently sift through the sand for edible bits. Tank Mates: Ideal tank mates include peaceful to semi-aggressive fish that share similar water requirements. Good companions are larger tetras, peaceful South American cichlids, and catfish. Avoid small, overly aggressive, or fin-nipping species. Aggression: Generally peaceful, Geophagus Dicrozoster shows minimal aggression, especially when housed in a spacious tank with plenty of hiding spots. Males may display territorial behaviors during breeding. Experience Level: Intermediate. While not overly demanding, maintaining optimal water conditions and providing a balanced diet are crucial for their well-being. Water Parameters:
