Ghost Goby (Fusigobius pallidus)
Overview:
The Ghost Goby is a small, peaceful marine goby with a translucent body that allows it to blend seamlessly into sandy and rubble substrates. Its subtle appearance and sand-sifting behavior make it a charming and functional addition to reef aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, typically found on sandy and rubble substrates near coral reefs.
Feeding:
Omnivorous. Feeds on small invertebrates, detritus, and microfauna. In captivity, accepts finely chopped seafood, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality sinking pellets. Requires a sandy substrate for natural burrowing and foraging.
Tank Mates:
Peaceful and reef-safe. Compatible with small, non-aggressive fish and invertebrates. Avoid housing with large, aggressive species.
Aggression:
Non-aggressive and shy; often retreats into sand or rubble when disturbed.
Experience Level:
Intermediate. Needs a mature tank with deep sand beds, stable water parameters, and secure hiding places.
