Giant Danio Devario Aequipinnatus 2cm Overview: The Giant Danio (Devario aequipinnatus) is a striking and active freshwater fish known for its vibrant colors and energetic nature. It belongs to the cyprinid family and is a popular choice for community aquariums due to its peaceful demeanor and lively presence. Origin: Originating from Southeast Asia, particularly in regions like Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos, the Giant Danio thrives in streams and rivers with moderately fast-moving water. Feeding: This species is an omnivore, enjoying a varied diet. They eagerly consume high-quality flake food, pellets, and frozen or live foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp. A diverse diet ensures their optimal health and coloration. Tank Mates: Giant Danios are social creatures that thrive in groups of five or more. They coexist peacefully with similarly-sized, non-aggressive fish such as tetras, rasboras, and peaceful bottom dwellers like Corydoras catfish. Avoid keeping them with fin-nipping species or overly aggressive tank mates. Aggression: Typically peaceful, Giant Danios may display minor chasing behavior among themselves, especially in smaller groups. However, this behavior is usually harmless and doesn't escalate to aggression. They're known for their active swimming patterns but generally do not harm other tank mates. Experience Level: Suitable for aquarists of various experience levels, Giant Danios are relatively hardy and easy to care for. Novice and experienced fishkeepers alike can successfully maintain them in a well-maintained aquarium. Water Parameters: Maintaining a stable environment is crucial. Aim for a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5, a temperature between 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C), and moderately hard water conditions.
