Giant Hatchet Fish Thoracocharax Securis 4cm Overview: The Giant Hatchet Fish, Thoracocharax Securis, is a stunning addition to any aquarium. Known for its unique hatchet-shaped body and vibrant silver coloration, this species captivates enthusiasts with its graceful movements and peaceful demeanor. Origin: Originating from South America, specifically the Amazon River basin, these fish thrive in slow-moving, heavily vegetated waters. Feeding: Giant Hatchet Fish are omnivorous, readily accepting high-quality flake foods, pellets, frozen/live foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp, and even vegetable matter. Their varied diet ensures their health and vibrancy. Tank Mates: These peaceful fish do best in groups of six or more and get along well with other peaceful community fish like tetras, rasboras, and small catfish. Avoid pairing them with aggressive or larger species that might intimidate or outcompete them for food. Aggression: Known for their docile nature, Giant Hatchet Fish exhibit minimal aggression, making them ideal for community tanks. However, they might become stressed in the presence of overly boisterous or aggressive tank mates. Experience Level: Suitable for aquarists of various experience levels, these fish are relatively hardy once acclimated to stable water conditions. However, ensuring proper water parameters and a peaceful tank environment is crucial for their well-being. Water Parameters: Maintain water temperatures between 72°F to 80°F (22°C to 27°C), pH levels ranging from 6.0 to 7.5, and softer to moderately hard water with a dGH of 5-12. Regular water changes and good filtration are essential to maintain optimal conditions.
