Glass Rattail Knife Fish Eigenmannia Virescens 10cm Overview: The Glass Rattail Knife Fish, Eigenmannia Virescens, is an elegant and captivating species known for its translucent body and elongated, ribbon-like tail. With its unique appearance and graceful movement, it adds a mesmerizing touch to any aquarium. Origin: Hailing from the rivers and tributaries of South America, particularly the Amazon basin, these fish prefer slow-moving, densely vegetated waters. Feeding: Primarily carnivorous, they thrive on a diet of live or frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small insects. They may also accept high-quality pellets or flakes but prefer live prey. Tank Mates: Best suited for peaceful community tanks with similarly sized, non-aggressive companions. Good tank mates include other peaceful fish like tetras, rasboras, and smaller catfish species. Aggression: Typically non-aggressive towards other fish, especially when housed with compatible tank mates. However, they might display territorial behavior if kept in cramped spaces. Experience Level: Recommended for aquarists with moderate experience due to their specific dietary needs and sensitivity to water conditions. Water Parameters: Prefers slightly acidic to neutral water conditions (pH 6.5-7.5), temperatures between 75-82°F (24-28°C), and soft to moderately hard water.
