Gold Neon Goby (Elacatinus figaro)

Overview:
The Gold Neon Goby is a small, peaceful marine goby featuring a striking golden stripe along its body. Active and reef-safe, it is popular in nano and reef aquariums for both its color and cleaning behavior, often picking parasites off tank mates.

Origin:
Native to the Western Atlantic, including the Caribbean Sea, typically found on coral reefs and rubble substrates.

Feeding:
Omnivorous. Feeds on small crustaceans, detritus, and parasites. In captivity, accepts brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality flake or pellet foods.

Tank Mates:
Peaceful and reef-safe. Compatible with small, non-aggressive fish and invertebrates. Avoid housing with large or aggressive species.

Aggression:
Non-aggressive; may defend a small territory while cleaning but poses no threat to other species.

Experience Level:
Beginner to intermediate. Hardy and adaptable, suitable for both established and mature reef tanks.

• pH: 8.1–8.4

• Salinity: 1.023–1.025

• dKH: 8–12
