Golden Dwarf Moray Eel – Gymnothorax melatremus

Overview:
The Golden Dwarf Moray Eel is a small yet striking marine eel known for its bright golden-yellow body and compact size, making it one of the more manageable morays for reef aquariums. Its active and curious nature adds visual interest while remaining relatively unobtrusive compared to larger moray species.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, typically found in shallow coral reefs and crevices across Indonesia, the Philippines, and Papua New Guinea.

Feeding:
Carnivorous – feeds on small fish, shrimp, and other meaty marine foods. In captivity, provide frozen or live shrimp, small pieces of squid, and other prepared marine foods.

Tank Mates:
Compatible with peaceful to semi-aggressive tank mates. Avoid very small fish or shrimp that may be treated as prey. Suitable for reef tanks with secure crevices.

Aggression:
Mildly predatory – small and manageable, but may hunt tiny invertebrates or fish.

Experience Level:
Intermediate to advanced – easier to care for than larger morays but requires established aquariums with plenty of hiding spaces.

• Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C)

• pH: 8.1–8.4

• Salinity: 1.020–1.025

• Minimum Tank Size: 50+ gallons
