Golden Heart Triggerfish – Balistes punctatus

Overview:
The Golden Heart Triggerfish is a striking and colorful marine species, easily recognized by its golden-yellow “heart” pattern on a darker body. Its unique coloration and bold presence make it a captivating centerpiece in large reef aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found on coral reefs and rocky coastal regions throughout tropical waters.

Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on a varied diet of meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, crustaceans, and prepared marine diets, along with occasional algae-based supplements.

Tank Mates:
Best housed with robust, similarly sized fish. Avoid small, slow-moving, or timid species, as the Golden Heart Triggerfish is territorial and can be aggressive.

Aggression:
Highly territorial and semi-aggressive – needs ample space and hiding spots to reduce stress and prevent conflicts with other fish.

Experience Level:
Advanced aquarists – suitable only for experienced keepers who can provide a large, well-filtered aquarium and carefully selected tank mates.

• Salinity: 1.020–1.025
