Goldflake Angelfish – Apolemichthys xanthopunctatus
Overview:
The Goldflake Angelfish is a rare and stunning species, featuring a golden body flecked with delicate black spots, highlighted by bold blue lips and fin edges. Its striking coloration and elegance make it one of the most prized marine angelfish in the hobby.
Origin:
Native to the Central Pacific Ocean, particularly around the Marshall Islands and Kiribati.
Feeding:
Omnivorous — thrives on sponge-based angelfish diets, marine algae, spirulina, mysis, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful to moderately aggressive fish such as tangs, Wrasses, and anthias. Avoid mixing with other large angelfish unless housed in very large aquariums.
Aggression:
Semi-aggressive — generally peaceful but may become territorial toward similar species.
Experience Level:
Recommended for advanced aquarists, requiring a mature system, excellent water quality, and a carefully varied diet.
