Greeni Trigger – Xanthichthys kiritimati
Overview:
The Greeni Trigger is a peaceful and visually striking marine fish, featuring a silvery body with subtle greenish highlights and bright yellow-edged fins. Its calm temperament and unique coloration make it an attractive addition to large reef or mixed-species aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, typically found around coral reefs and drop-offs from East Africa to the central Pacific.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on a varied diet of meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, and small crustaceans, supplemented with high-quality marine pellets or flakes.
Tank Mates:
Ideal for peaceful to moderately semi-aggressive tank mates. Its calm nature allows it to coexist well in mixed-species reef setups.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful – less territorial than many triggerfish, making it suitable for reef aquariums with non-aggressive species.
Experience Level:
Intermediate aquarists – requires a mature, stable aquarium with ample swimming space and good water quality.
