Harlequin Lancer Catfish Bagrichthys Melapterus 5cm Overview: The Harlequin Lancer Catfish, Bagrichthys melapterus, is a striking and active species prized for its unique appearance and behavior. Sporting a slender body with distinct patterns and elongated fins, it captivates enthusiasts with its lively antics. Origin: Originating from freshwater habitats across Southeast Asia, particularly in rivers and streams with moderate currents, this species thrives in well-oxygenated waters. Feeding: As an omnivorous species, the Harlequin Lancer Catfish eagerly accepts a varied diet. They relish live and frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small crustaceans, while also appreciating high-quality sinking pellets or granules. Tank Mates: They generally coexist peacefully with other non-aggressive species of similar size, making compatible tank mates out of peaceful community fish like tetras, rasboras, and peaceful bottom-dwellers. Avoid pairing them with overly aggressive or territorial tank inhabitants. Aggression: These catfish are generally docile and non-aggressive, preferring to explore their surroundings and retreat into hiding spaces when stressed. However, during feeding times, they might assert themselves for food, but aggression is rare. Experience Level: Given their hardiness and adaptable nature, the Harlequin Lancer Catfish can be suitable for intermediate aquarists. Basic knowledge of water parameters and proper tank maintenance is recommended to ensure their well-being. Water Parameters: Maintaining stable water conditions is crucial.
