Overview:
The Hawaiian Orange Tail Filefish is a vibrant and eye-catching marine species, featuring a slender, laterally compressed body with a striking orange tail. Its unique shape and curious behavior make it a fascinating addition to reef aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Hawaiian Islands and central Pacific reefs, typically found around coral reefs, lagoons, and rocky outcrops.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – feeds on algae, small invertebrates, and prepared marine foods. In captivity, provide a balanced diet of spirulina, marine algae, mysis shrimp, and high-quality pellets.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful reef fish. Avoid aggressive species that may harass or outcompete the filefish.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, though may nibble on soft corals or small invertebrates in reef tanks.
Experience Level:
Intermediate – requires a well-established marine aquarium with stable water parameters and proper feeding routines.
