Honey Gregory Damsel – Stegastes planifrons
Overview:
The Honey Gregory Damsel is a hardy and striking reef fish, featuring a golden-brown to honey-colored body with subtle blue highlights. Its bold coloration and active, territorial nature make it a lively and engaging addition to marine aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Western Atlantic and Caribbean, commonly inhabiting coral reefs and rocky substrates.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – enjoys flakes, pellets, frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and algae-based foods. A varied diet helps maintain its vibrant colors.
Tank Mates:
Best suited for semi-aggressive or robust fish species. Its territorial tendencies mean it may challenge smaller or timid tank mates, but it is generally reef-safe with corals and invertebrates.
Aggression:
Semi-aggressive to aggressive, especially as it establishes territory. Plenty of rockwork and hiding spaces can help minimize disputes.
Experience Level:
Beginner to intermediate – very hardy, but requires consideration of tankmate compatibility due to its territorial behavior.
