Hutomoi Anthias – Pseudanthias hutomoi
Overview:
The Hutomoi Anthias is a brightly colored, mid-sized marine fish, displaying vivid pink to orange hues with subtle iridescent accents. Known for their active schooling behavior, they bring dynamic movement and color to mid- to upper-water areas of reef aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, typically found around deep coral reefs and reef drop-offs in locations such as Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
Feeding:
Planktivorous – feeds on zooplankton and small live or frozen foods. In captivity, provide frequent feedings of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other planktonic foods.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful community fish. Ideal companions include other anthias, reef-safe species, and schooling mid-water fish.
Aggression:
Non-aggressive – thrives in groups of 6 or more, displaying natural schooling behavior.
Experience Level:
Intermediate to advanced – requires a well-established aquarium with stable water parameters and frequent feeding.
