What is the JBL ProFlora CO2 Taifun Safestop?
The JBL ProFlora CO2 Taifun SafeStop is a water backflow non-return valve that can be used with a variety of units, such as pH controllers, solenoid valves and CO2 systems. It prevents the water from flowing back out of the aquarium into the CO2 valve. Easy to install, it's suitable for CO2 hoses with 4/6 mm diameter and features lock nuts to prevent the CO2 hose from slipping off.
What are the benefits of using a non-return valve?
The valve will stop water from flowing back and protect valuable equipment from erosion and further damage. If CO2 is fed into the aquarium through the CO2 supply hose, there is no risk of aquarium water entering the hose. However, if the solenoid valve shuts off at night or if the CO2 supply bottle runs out, the CO2 remaining in the hose will dissolve in the water, which will lead to aquarium water migrating into the hose. If it reaches technical parts like the solenoid valve or pressure reducer, it can cause corrosion (rusting) and destroy them. As a backflow prevention device, it only allows the CO2 gas to pass through in one direction.
Where should the JBL Proflora Safestop be mounted?
We recommend mounting the JBL ProFlora CO2 Taifun Safestop as close as possible to the aquarium water, just above the water level. This way, very little CO2 can migrate into the tube.
