King Rabbit Snail (Tylomelania sp.) – 5 cm

Overview:
The King Rabbit Snail is a striking freshwater snail known for its long, spiral shell and distinctive rabbit-like face with extended antennae. With its slow, graceful movements and unique appearance, this fascinating species makes a standout addition to planted and community aquariums.

Origin:
Native to Sulawesi, Indonesia, Tylomelania snails inhabit warm freshwater lakes and rivers with sandy or rocky substrates.

Feeding:
Omnivorous scavenger. Feeds on algae, biofilm, detritus, and leftover fish food. Supplement with algae wafers, sinking pellets, and blanched vegetables such as zucchini, spinach, or cucumber to ensure proper nutrition.

Tank / Setup Requirements:

• Minimum tank size: 40 litres (10 gallons)

• Soft sand substrate recommended to allow natural burrowing behaviour

• Provide rocks, driftwood, and décor for grazing

• Stable water conditions with good filtration

Tank Mates:
Suitable for peaceful community aquariums with non-aggressive fish and invertebrates. Avoid snail-eating fish such as puffers or loaches.

Behaviour:
Peaceful and slow-moving. Often seen grazing along surfaces or partially burrowing in the substrate. Unlike many snails, rabbit snails give birth to live young rather than laying eggs.

Experience Level:
Beginner to intermediate. Hardy when provided with stable water conditions and a calcium-rich environment for shell health.

• Temperature: 24–30°C (75–86°F)

• pH: 7.0–8.5

• Water Type: Freshwater

• Hardness: Moderate to hard water preferred
