Kujaku Classic Koi Carp (Cyprinus carpio)

Overview

The Kujaku Koi, also known as the Peacock Koi, is a striking metallic variety admired for its brilliant platinum-white base overlaid with bold red (hi) markings and a shimmering reticulated scale pattern. Elegant and eye-catching, this variety brings exceptional brightness and contrast to any pond.

Origin

Japan – selectively bred ornamental koi

Feeding

• Omnivorous: high-quality koi pellets, wheat germ, vegetables, and occasional live or frozen foods

• Feed 1–2 times daily, adjusting quantity with water temperature

Tank / Pond Requirements

• Best suited for outdoor ponds or very large indoor systems

• Minimum recommended pond volume: 1,000+ litres

• Requires excellent filtration and good water circulation

Aggression

• Peaceful and social

• Compatible with other koi varieties and pond fish

Experience Level

Intermediate – requires stable water quality and regular maintenance
