L006 Brown Dot Pleco Peckoltia Oligospila 5cm Overview: The L006 Brown Dot Pleco, scientifically known as Peckoltia oligospila, is a captivating addition to any freshwater aquarium. Renowned for its unique brown-spotted pattern across a sleek, streamlined body, this species thrives in well-structured environments that mimic their natural habitat. Reaching up to 5 inches in length, the L006 is a modest-sized pleco that combines beauty with utility, aiding in algae control. Origin: Native to the soft, acidic waters of South America's Amazon Basin, the L006 Brown Dot Pleco is accustomed to environments with plenty of hiding spots provided by driftwood and rock formations. They are typically found in fast-flowing streams and rivers. Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, the L006 Brown Dot Pleco's diet should include a variety of foods. High-quality sinking pellets, algae wafers, and occasional servings of fresh vegetables such as zucchini, cucumber, and peas will ensure a balanced diet. Meaty foods like bloodworms can be offered sparingly. Tank Mates: This species is generally peaceful and can coexist with many other fish of similar size and temperament. Ideal tank mates include tetras, rasboras, and other small to medium peaceful fish. Avoid overly aggressive species that may bully or stress the pleco. Aggression: The L006 exhibits minimal aggression but can be territorial towards other bottom-dwellers, especially of the same species. Providing ample space and hiding spots can reduce potential conflicts. Experience Level: Suited for aquarists of intermediate experience, the L006 Brown Dot Pleco requires some knowledge of maintaining proper water conditions and diet but is relatively hardy and adaptable. Water Parameters:- Temperature: 76°F - 84°F (24°C - 29°C)
- pH: 6.5 - 7.5
- Hardness: 2-12 dGH Regular water changes and a well-filtered tank are essential to mimic the clean, oxygen-rich waters of their natural habitat.
