L106 Orange Seam Pleco Hemiancistrus Guahiborum Overview: The L106 Orange Seam Pleco, scientifically known as Hemiancistrus Guahiborum, is a captivating addition to any freshwater aquarium. This species is renowned for its unique appearance, featuring a dark body contrasted with vibrant orange seams along the edges of its fins. Typically reaching up to 5 inches in length, the Orange Seam Pleco is a manageable size for most aquariums. Origin: Native to the fast-flowing rivers and streams of South America, the L106 thrives in environments with plenty of hiding spots and a strong current. This origin impacts their care requirements in captivity, necessitating a tank setup that mimics their natural habitat. Feeding: As omnivores, L106 Orange Seam Plecos have a varied diet but primarily feed on algae and biofilm in the aquarium. Supplementing their diet with algae wafers, vegetables (such as zucchini, cucumber, and peas), and occasional high-quality sinking pellets will ensure they receive the necessary nutrients. Tank Mates: The L106 is generally peaceful and can coexist with a wide variety of tank mates. Ideal companions include small to medium-sized fish that occupy the upper levels of the tank, as well as other bottom dwellers that are not overly aggressive. It's important to avoid pairing them with large, aggressive species that may bully or stress them. Aggression: This species exhibits minimal aggression and is often shy, especially when first introduced to a new environment. They may display territorial behavior towards other bottom dwellers, so providing ample hiding spots and space is crucial to minimize conflicts. Experience Level: Due to their specific care requirements, the L106 Orange Seam Pleco is best suited for aquarists with some experience. Understanding and replicating the conditions of their natural habitat is key to their health and well-being. Water Parameters:- Temperature: 76°F to 84°F (24°C to 29°C)
- pH: 6.5 to 7.5
- Hardness: 5 to 15 dGH
- Strong water flow and high oxygen levels are essential to mimic their natural riverine environment.
