L124 Para Pleco Hemiancistrus Sabaji Overview: The L124 Para Pleco, scientifically known as Hemiancistrus Sabaji, is a captivating and somewhat rare addition to the aquarium hobby. This medium-sized plecostomus can reach up to 6-7 inches in length and is known for its unique coloration and pattern. The L124 displays a beautiful combination of dark and light bands across its body, making it a standout specimen in any tank. Origin: Native to the fast-flowing rivers and streams of Venezuela, the L124 Para Pleco thrives in environments with strong current and plenty of hiding spots. It is often found in areas with rocky substrates, where it can graze on biofilm and algae. Feeding: The L124 Para Pleco is primarily an herbivore, with a diet that should be rich in vegetable-based foods. Offer a variety of sinking pellets, blanched vegetables, and algae wafers. While they do consume algae, they should not be relied upon solely to clean the tank. Occasional protein-based foods can be offered, but they should not form the majority of their diet. Tank Mates: Compatible with a wide range of tank mates, the L124 Para Pleco does well with fish that prefer similar water conditions. Ideal tank mates include small to medium-sized tetras, rasboras, and other peaceful community fish. It is advisable to avoid overly aggressive species that may stress or harm the L124. Aggression: The L124 Para Pleco is generally peaceful and solitary. However, like many plecos, they can become territorial with other bottom dwellers, especially of their own kind or similar species. Providing ample space and hiding spots can help minimize aggression. Experience Level: Suited for intermediate to advanced aquarists. The L124 requires specific water conditions and diet to thrive, making it a bit more challenging for beginners. Water Parameters:- Temperature: 76-82°F (24-28°C)
- pH: 6.5-7.5
- Hardness: 5-15 dGH
- Strong water flow and high oxygenation are crucial to mimic their natural habitat.
