L14 Goldy Sunshine Pleco Scobiancistrus Auratus Overview: The L14 Goldy Sunshine Pleco, scientifically known as Scobiancistrus auratus, is a stunning freshwater fish that adds a touch of elegance to any aquarium. Renowned for its vibrant golden-yellow spots that shimmer against a dark backdrop, this species can grow up to 12 inches, making it a striking centerpiece in larger tanks. Origin: Native to the Rio Xingu in Brazil, the L14 thrives in fast-flowing, clear waters. This origin has adapted the Goldy Sunshine Pleco to prefer environments with strong currents and plenty of hiding spaces among rocks and driftwood. Feeding: Omnivorous by nature, the L14 Goldy Sunshine Pleco's diet should include a variety of foods. High-quality sinking pellets or wafers, fresh vegetables, and occasional meaty foods like shrimp and bloodworms will ensure your Pleco maintains its health and vibrant colors. Tank Mates: Compatible with a wide range of fish, the L14 does best with species that share its peaceful demeanor. Ideal tank mates include larger tetras, cichlids (that are not overly aggressive), and other plecos that do not compete aggressively for territory. Avoid small, overly timid fish that could be outcompeted for food. Aggression: The L14 Goldy Sunshine Pleco is generally peaceful but can exhibit territorial behavior towards other bottom-dwellers. Providing ample space and hiding spots can minimize aggression, especially in a species-specific or larger community aquarium. Experience Level: Due to their specific care requirements and sensitivity to water quality, the L14 is best suited for intermediate to advanced aquarists who can maintain stable water conditions and a suitable environment. Water Parameters:- Temperature: 79-86°F (26-30°C)
- pH: 6.5-7.5
- Hardness: 6-10 dGH
- Strong water flow and high oxygenation are crucial to mimic their natural habitat.
