L15 Candy Stripe Pleco Pectolia Vittata 6cm Overview: The L15 Candy Stripe Pleco, also known as Peckoltia vittata, is a visually striking freshwater fish, celebrated for its distinctive striping and peaceful demeanor. Growing up to a manageable size of 4-5 inches (10-12.7 cm), this species is perfect for aquarists looking to add both beauty and utility to their tanks. The Candy Stripe Pleco is a diligent algae-eater, making it a valuable addition to maintaining a clean and healthy aquarium environment. Origin: Native to the soft, acidic waters of South America's Amazon River Basin, the L15 thrives in environments that mimic these conditions. Its natural habitat is characterized by a strong current, and it is often found clinging to rocks and submerged wood. Feeding: While primarily an algae eater, the L15 Candy Stripe Pleco should be offered a varied diet for optimal health. This includes high-quality sinking pellets, blanched vegetables (such as zucchini and cucumber), and occasional servings of live or frozen foods like bloodworms. Ensure food reaches the bottom of the tank to accommodate their bottom-feeding nature. Tank Mates: This pleco is peaceful and can be housed with a wide variety of tank mates. Ideal companions include small to medium-sized tetras, rasboras, and dwarf cichlids. Avoid overly aggressive species that may bully or outcompete the L15 for food. Aggression: The L15 Candy Stripe Pleco exhibits low aggression and tends to be shy and retiring. It may display territorial behavior towards other bottom dwellers, especially other plecos, so provide plenty of hiding spots and ensure adequate space if housing multiple bottom feeders. Experience Level: Suitable for intermediate aquarists. While not overly demanding, maintaining the correct water parameters and diet requires some experience. Water Parameters:- Temperature: 76-86°F (24-30°C)
- pH: 5.5-7.5
- Hardness: 2-12 dGH
- Strong water flow and high oxygenation mimic its natural habitat and promote well-being.
