L183 Starlight White Seam Pleco Xenocara Dolichoptera 5cm Overview: The L183 Starlight White Seam Pleco, also known as the Starlight Bristlenose Pleco, is a captivating and sought-after freshwater fish, cherished for its striking black body contrasted with brilliant white seams along its fins and tail. This small-sized pleco, reaching up to 4-5 inches in length, is not only admired for its beauty but also for its role as an efficient algae eater in aquariums. Origin: Native to the fast-flowing, clear waters of the Amazon River Basin in South America, the L183 thrives in environments with plenty of hiding spots and a strong current. Feeding: Primarily an herbivore, the L183 Starlight White Seam Pleco has a diet that should be rich in vegetable-based foods. Algae wafers, blanched vegetables (such as zucchini, cucumbers, and spinach), and driftwood (for natural grazing) form the cornerstone of their diet. Occasional protein in the form of bloodworms or brine shrimp can be offered sparingly. Tank Mates: Peaceful by nature, these plecos do well with a variety of tank mates. Ideal companions include small to medium-sized tetras, rasboras, and other peaceful community fish. Avoid housing them with large, aggressive species. Aggression: L183 Starlight White Seam Plecos are generally peaceful and solitary. However, they can display territorial behavior towards other bottom-dwellers, especially of their kind, so it's advisable to provide ample space and hiding spots if keeping multiple specimens.
