Lamprologus Tretocephalus Tanganyikan African Cichlids 5cm Overview: Lamprologus Tretocephalus, affectionately known as "Treto" in the aquarist community, are stunning Tanganyikan African Cichlids known for their striking coloration and unique head shape. Their engaging behavior and intriguing breeding habits make them an excellent addition to any enthusiast's tank. Origin: These remarkable cichlids hail from the rocky shores of Lake Tanganyika in East Africa, where they dwell amidst the rocky substrate and crevices, showcasing their territorial nature and intriguing social behavior. Feeding: Tretocephalus thrive on a diet rich in high-quality pellets or flakes supplemented with occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp or bloodworms. Their diet should offer a balanced mix of protein and vegetable matter. Tank Mates: Best kept in species-specific tanks or with other Tanganyikan cichlids of similar size and temperament. Avoid housing them with overly aggressive or significantly smaller fish to prevent conflicts in the tank. Aggression: While moderately territorial, these cichlids exhibit manageable aggression, especially when guarding their chosen territory or during breeding periods. Providing ample hiding spaces with rock formations or caves can mitigate aggression. Experience Level: Intermediate to experienced aquarists will appreciate the unique behaviors and specific tank requirements of Lamprologus Tretocephalus. Their territorial nature and breeding behaviors may require attentive care and understanding. Water Parameters: Maintain water conditions with a pH range of 7.8-9.0 and a temperature between 74-80°F (23-27°C). Regular water changes and stable parameters are crucial for their health and well-being.
