Long Fin Senegal Bichir Polypterus Senegalensis Senegalus 10cm Overview: The Long Fin Senegal Bichir, a captivating prehistoric fish, mesmerizes with its elongated body and gracefully flowing fins. Origin: Native to the freshwater rivers and floodplains of Africa, the Long Fin Senegal Bichir is well-adapted to diverse environments. This resilience makes it a suitable candidate for home aquariums, provided their specific needs are met. Feeding: Carnivorous by nature, the Long Fin Senegal Bichir thrives on a diet rich in protein. Offer a variety of foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and small pieces of fish or meat. Ensuring a balanced diet is key to maintaining their health and vitality. Tank Mates: When selecting tank mates, consider larger, peaceful fish that can hold their own. Avoid small fish that might be seen as prey. Compatible companions include larger tetras, cichlids (of a non-aggressive variety), and other bottom-dwellers like catfish. Aggression: Generally peaceful towards similarly sized fish, the Long Fin Senegal Bichir may exhibit predatory behavior towards smaller tank mates. Providing ample space and hiding spots can help minimize stress and territorial disputes. Experience Level: Intermediate. While not overly demanding, their unique care requirements and diet make them better suited for hobbyists with some experience in fishkeeping. Water Parameters:
