Nano Firecracker Goby – Trimma cana
Overview:
The Nano Firecracker Goby is a tiny, vibrant reef-dwelling goby famous for its bright red body and contrasting markings, reminiscent of a firecracker. This active species perches on coral branches or rocky crevices, adding dynamic color and movement to nano and larger reef tanks.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, typically inhabiting shallow reef slopes and coral-rich areas, where it stays close to shelter.
Feeding:
Carnivorous – feeds on plankton, small invertebrates, and micro-crustaceans. In aquariums, it accepts frozen mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and micro-pellets, ideally offered several times per day to replicate natural feeding.
Tank Mates:
Peaceful and reef-safe, compatible with other small, non-aggressive fish. Avoid predatory or highly territorial species.
Aggression:
Low. May defend a small perch but is generally non-territorial and social with similar species.
Experience Level:
Intermediate. Requires a well-established reef tank with plenty of coral cover for perching and shelter.
