Nothobranchius Furzeri Turquoise Killifish 3cm Overview: The Nothobranchius Furzeri, commonly known as the Turquoise Killifish, is a vibrant and captivating species admired for its striking colors and dynamic behavior. This small, yet lively fish, showcases a stunning combination of turquoise and orange hues, making it a standout addition to any freshwater aquarium. Ideal for hobbyists looking to add a splash of color and activity to their tanks, the Turquoise Killifish is a fascinating species to observe and care for. Origin: Native to the seasonal waters of Mozambique and Zimbabwe, the Turquoise Killifish has adapted to live in environments that drastically change throughout the year. This adaptability makes them a resilient species, capable of thriving in a variety of tank conditions. Their natural habitat experiences periods of drought and flooding, which influences their unique lifecycle and breeding behaviors. Feeding: Turquoise Killifish are not particularly fussy eaters, but they thrive on a diet rich in variety. A mixture of high-quality flake food, freeze-dried bloodworms, and brine shrimp will ensure they receive the necessary nutrients for optimal health and coloration. Regular feeding of live foods can also encourage more vibrant colors and active behaviors. Tank Mates: Due to their peaceful nature, Turquoise Killifish can be housed with a variety of other species. However, it's best to avoid very large or aggressive fish that may bully or prey upon them. Ideal tank mates include other small, peaceful fish and invertebrates that share similar water parameters. Keeping them in groups can also help to display their natural behaviors and social interactions. Aggression: Turquoise Killifish are generally peaceful and pose little threat to their tank mates. Males may show slight aggression towards each other when competing for female attention, but this rarely results in harm. Providing plenty of hiding spots and ample space can minimize any potential aggression. Experience Level: While adaptable and relatively easy to care for, the Turquoise Killifish is best suited for hobbyists with some experience. Their specific breeding requirements and sensitivity to water quality changes require a level of dedication and understanding that may be challenging for beginners. Water Parameters: To mimic their natural habitat, maintain water temperatures between 22°C to 26°C (72°F to 79°F), with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5. Turquoise Killifish prefer soft to moderately hard water, with regular water changes to keep the parameters stable and the environment clean. Careful attention to maintaining these conditions will help ensure the health and longevity of these vibrant fish.Above images for illustration purposes only.
