Ocellaris Clownfish – Amphiprion ocellaris
Overview:
The Ocellaris Clownfish, also known as the Common Clownfish, is one of the most iconic and recognizable marine fish. Its bright orange body with white bands and black edging makes it a classic centerpiece for any reef or saltwater aquarium. Hardy, active, and full of personality, it is ideal for hobbyists of all experience levels.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found around coral reefs and lagoons from Southeast Asia to northern Australia.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on high-quality pellets, flakes, frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular feeding helps maintain vibrant coloration and health.
Tank Mates:
Peaceful and reef-safe, compatible with most non-aggressive fish and invertebrates. Often forms symbiotic relationships with anemones, though not required for survival.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, though may exhibit mild territorial behavior around a host or breeding site.
Experience Level:
Beginner-friendly – hardy, adaptable, and ideal for both new and experienced marine aquarists.
