Pictus Blenny – Ecsenius pictus
Overview:
The Pictus Blenny is a small, peaceful marine fish distinguished by its slender body and striking pattern of spots and markings. Active and hardy, it is an excellent algae grazer and adds both personality and movement to reef and community aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including Indonesia, the Philippines, and northern Australia.
Feeding:
Omnivorous — thrives on algae-based foods, high-quality marine flakes or pellets, frozen mysis and brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Regular grazing helps maintain both the fish’s health and aquarium cleanliness.
Tank Mates:
Ideal for peaceful reef and community tanks, coexisting well with gobies, clownfish, damselfish, and other non-aggressive species.
Aggression:
Very peaceful, though may defend small crevice spaces if other blennies are nearby.
Experience Level:
Suitable for beginner to intermediate aquarists, due to its hardy nature and easy care requirements.
