Pineapple Trigger – Pseudobalistes flavimarginatus
Overview:
The Pineapple Trigger is a large and striking marine fish, known for its robust body and distinctive patterns resembling a pineapple texture. Its bold coloration and impressive size make it a dramatic centerpiece for large marine aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found on coral reefs and coastal areas from East Africa to the western Pacific.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on a varied diet of meaty foods such as shrimp, squid, crustaceans, and other protein-rich marine preparations, supplemented with occasional algae-based foods.
Tank Mates:
Best housed with robust, similarly sized fish. Avoid small, slow-moving, or timid species, as the Pineapple Trigger can be territorial and aggressive.
Aggression:
Highly territorial and semi-aggressive – requires ample space and hiding spots to reduce stress and allow natural behaviors.
Experience Level:
Advanced aquarists – suitable only for those experienced with large, predatory marine species and capable of providing a spacious, well-maintained aquarium.
