Overview:
The Platinum Gold Gourami is a striking, selectively bred color form of the hardy Three-Spot Gourami, boasting a brilliant golden-yellow to creamy platinum sheen that glows under aquarium lighting. Known for its graceful swimming style, peaceful nature, and adaptability, this labyrinth fish is a fantastic choice for aquarists seeking a vibrant yet hardy centerpiece for a community aquarium.

Origin:
Wild-type Trichopodus trichopterus originates from slow-moving rivers, swamps, and floodplains across Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia. The Platinum Gold morph was developed entirely through aquarium breeding.

Feeding:
Omnivorous and undemanding. Accepts high-quality flakes, pellets, and granules, as well as frozen or live foodssuch as brine shrimp, daphnia, mosquito larvae, and bloodworms. Occasional vegetable-based foods help maintain digestion and health.

Tank Mates:
Generally peaceful, but males can be mildly territorial—especially toward other gouramis. Ideal companions include tetras, rasboras, Corydoras, rainbowfish, and peaceful barbs. Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species.

Water Parameters:

• Temperature: 75–82°F (24–28°C)

• pH: 6.5–7.5

• Soft to moderately hard water

• Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons

• Prefers calm, well-planted aquariums with gentle filtration

Behavior & Personality:

• Gentle and calm, often seen gliding among plants

• Labyrinth breather—will occasionally gulp air at the surface

• Males may flare fins to display dominance or court females

Special Notes:

• Hardy and adaptable—suitable for beginner to advanced aquarists

• Best coloration appears under soft lighting with dark substrate

• Males have longer, more pointed dorsal fins; females have shorter, rounded ones

• Can be bred in home aquariums; bubble-nest spawner
