Overview:
The Platinum Panda Angelfish is a stunning designer variant of Pterophyllum scalare, showcasing a clean platinum white body contrasted with bold black patches, reminiscent of a panda's pattern. With its tall, elegant fins, peaceful demeanor, and graceful movement, this angelfish brings both beauty and serenity to the mid-levels of a freshwater aquarium. It's an ideal choice for aquarists looking for a visually striking yet peaceful centerpiece.

Origin:
A captive-bred morph developed from the wild angelfish species native to the Amazon Basin in South America, including parts of Brazil, Peru, and Colombia. This variant was selectively bred in the hobby for its unique black-and-white coloration.

Feeding:
Omnivorous and undemanding. Thrives on high-quality flakes or pellets, with regular additions of frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. A varied diet enhances coloration and long-term health.

Tank Mates:
Generally peaceful but mildly territorial, especially when forming pairs or breeding. Suitable tank mates include Corydoras catfish, tetras (like rummynose, ember, or black skirt), rasboras, gouramis, and other non-aggressive community fish. Avoid fin-nippers and very small fish (like neon tetras), which may be mistaken for food as the angelfish matures.

Water Parameters:

• Temperature: 76–82°F (24–28°C)

• pH: 6.5–7.5

• Soft to moderately hard water

• Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons (taller tanks preferred)

• Prefers calm water, heavily planted aquascapes, and vertical décor

Behavior & Personality:

• Intelligent, social, and interactive with keepers

• Can be kept singly, in pairs, or in small groups (if space allows)

• May become territorial during breeding

Special Notes:

• Forms monogamous breeding pairs, often laying eggs on vertical surfaces

• Striking coloration becomes more vivid with proper lighting and diet

• Ideal for Amazon biotope tanks or as a standout feature fish in planted aquariums
