Pseudotropheus Cynotilapia Afra Red Top Malawi African Cichlid Overview: The Cynotilapia Afra Red Top is a vibrant and active species known for its striking coloration, particularly the males with their vivid red tops. This dwarf Mbuna cichlid makes a fascinating addition to any freshwater aquarium due to its lively demeanor and intriguing behaviors. Origin: Native to the rocky shores of Lake Malawi in East Africa, this species thrives in environments with plenty of hiding spaces and territorial boundaries. Feeding: Primarily herbivorous, the Cynotilapia Afra Red Top fares best on a diet rich in vegetable matter, including spirulina flakes and pellets. Occasional offerings of high-quality, protein-rich foods can be included to vary the diet, but should be kept to a minimum to prevent digestive issues. Tank Mates: Ideal tank mates include other Malawi cichlids of similar size and temperament. Avoid housing with overly aggressive species or those significantly larger. Consideration should be given to ensuring a proper male to female ratio to reduce aggression and stress among the group. Aggression: While generally peaceful towards other species, males can exhibit territorial aggression towards each other, especially in confined spaces. A larger tank with ample hiding spots and carefully structured territories can mitigate aggressive behaviors. Experience Level: Due to their specific dietary and environmental needs, Cynotilapia Afra Red Top is best suited for intermediate to advanced aquarists familiar with managing the unique requirements of African cichlids. Water Parameters:

• Temperature: 76-82‚°F (24-28‚°C)
• pH: 7.8-8.6
• Hardness: 10-20 dGH

Maintaining stable water parameters and regular water changes are crucial for the health and well-being of this species. Proper filtration and aeration will mimic their natural habitat and contribute to their vibrant coloration and activity levels.
