Pyramid Butterfly Fish – Hemitaurichthys polylepis
Overview:
The Pyramid Butterfly Fish is a peaceful and striking marine species, featuring a sleek body with a pyramid-like pattern of white and grey hues. Known for its schooling behavior, it adds graceful movement and visual appeal to reef and community aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including Hawaii, the Philippines, and northern Australia.
Feeding:
Omnivorous — thrives on marine flakes, pellets, frozen mysis and brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood, with occasional algae grazing.
Tank Mates:
Ideal for peaceful reef and community tanks, especially in small schools of 3 or more. Compatible with tangs, clownfish, gobies, and other non-aggressive species.
Aggression:
Very peaceful, non-territorial and social when kept in groups.
Experience Level:
Suitable for beginner to intermediate aquarists, as they are hardy and adapt well to stable water conditions.
