Real Atlantic Tarpon Megalops Atlanticus 10cm Overview: The Real Atlantic Tarpon, Megalops atlanticus, is a majestic silver fish known for its large size and incredible jumping abilities. A true spectacle in any large marine aquarium, it brings a piece of the ocean's wonders into your home or public display. Due to its potential size, it's suited for experienced aquarists with the capability to provide a spacious environment. Origin: Native to the Atlantic Ocean, the Real Atlantic Tarpon inhabits both inshore waters and the open sea. It's found from the tropical and subtropical regions of the North and South Atlantic, extending into the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Feeding: A carnivorous species, the Real Atlantic Tarpon requires a diet rich in protein. In captivity, they can be fed a variety of foods including fish, shrimp, and squid. It's important to provide a diverse diet to ensure proper nutrition and health. Tank Mates: Due to their size and dietary requirements, choosing the right tank mates is crucial. Suitable companions include large, similarly sized non-aggressive species. Smaller fish may be seen as prey. Always research compatibility when introducing new species to the aquarium. Aggression: Generally, Real Atlantic Tarpons are not aggressive towards other large fish but can be territorial. Their feeding response, however, can be vigorous, and care should be taken during feeding times. Experience Level: Caring for a Real Atlantic Tarpon is recommended for advanced aquarists. Their large size, specific dietary needs, and requirement for expansive swimming space demand experience and resources. Water Parameters:

• Temperature: 72°F to 82°F (22°C to 28°C)
• pH: 7.5 to 8.4
• Salinity: 1.020 to 1.025 sg
• Tank Size: Given their potential to grow several feet in length, a tank of several hundred gallons is necessary, with larger volumes being preferable for adult specimens.
