Red Bubble Tip Anemone – Entacmaea quadricolor
Overview:
The Red Bubble Tip Anemone is a vibrant and captivating marine invertebrate, known for its bulbous tentacle tips and rich red coloration. It is a popular choice for saltwater aquariums due to its dynamic appearance and ability to host clownfish.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Feeding:
Carnivorous – feeds on meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and specialized marine invertebrate preparations. Can absorb nutrients from aquarium lighting if hosting photosynthetic symbionts.
Tank Mates:
Ideal companions include clownfish and other non-aggressive reef fish. Avoid housing with fish that may nip at or disturb the anemone.
Aggression:
Moderately territorial – can sting nearby corals and invertebrates with its nematocysts.
Experience Level:
Intermediate to advanced aquarists – requires stable water conditions, strong lighting, and proper acclimation.
