Red Checked Blenny – Parapercis sp.
Overview:
The Red Checked Blenny is a small, vibrant marine fish with distinctive red checkered markings along its body. Active and hardy, it adds both color and personality to reef and community aquariums while contributing to algae and detritus control.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including Indonesia, the Philippines, and northern Australia.
Feeding:
Carnivorous — thrives on live or frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, small crustaceans, and finely chopped seafood.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful to moderately aggressive community fish, avoiding very small prey species. Suitable for mixed reef and marine setups.
Aggression:
Generally peaceful, may show mild territorial behavior if housed with other small bottom-dwelling fish in tight spaces.
Experience Level:
Recommended for intermediate aquarists, due to dietary needs and care for maintaining water quality.
