Red Damsel – Neoglyphidodon polyacanthus
Overview:
The Red Damsel is a vibrant and hardy marine fish, displaying a striking red-orange coloration that makes it stand out in any aquarium. Known for its resilience and active nature, this species adds bold color and personality to the reef.
Origin:
Found throughout the Indo-Pacific, including coral reefs and lagoons where it lives among branching corals.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on a varied diet of marine flakes, pellets, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and algae-based foods.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with semi-aggressive to larger tank mates. It may show territorial behavior, so avoid housing with very peaceful or timid species. Reef-safe with corals and most invertebrates.
Aggression:
Semi-aggressive to aggressive, especially as it matures. Plenty of rockwork and swimming space can help reduce territorial disputes.
Experience Level:
Beginner-friendly, thanks to its hardiness, but better suited to aquarists prepared for its bold personality.
