Red Fin Anthias – Pseudanthias dispar

Overview:
The Red Fin Anthias is a bright and active marine fish, featuring a vivid pink to orange body with striking red-tipped fins. Known for their mid-water schooling behavior, they bring movement, color, and vibrancy to reef aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, commonly found around deep coral reefs and drop-offs, including areas such as Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Feeding:
Planktivorous – feeds on zooplankton and other small live or frozen foods. In captivity, provide frequent feedings of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and planktonic foods.

Tank Mates:
Best kept with peaceful community fish. Compatible with other anthias, reef-safe species, and schooling mid-water fish.

Aggression:
Non-aggressive – thrives in groups of 6 or more, displaying natural schooling behavior.

Experience Level:
Intermediate to advanced – requires a well-established aquarium with stable water parameters and regular feeding.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C)

  • pH: 8.1–8.4

  • Salinity: 1.020–1.025

  • Minimum Tank Size: 75+ gallons
