With a peaceful demeanor and impressive size, it's a captivating addition to larger aquariums. Origin: Originating from Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia, these gouramis inhabit slow-moving rivers, swamps, and freshwater marshes. Feeding: They are omnivorous, enjoying a varied diet consisting of pellets, flakes, live, and frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp. A mix of plant matter and protein keeps them healthy and vibrant. Tank Mates: Compatible with peaceful, larger fish species such as similar-sized cichlids, catfish, or other gouramis. Avoid keeping them with smaller or aggressive fish to prevent potential conflict. Aggression: While generally peaceful, they might exhibit territorial behavior, especially during breeding periods or if the tank lacks hiding places. Provide ample hiding spots to minimize aggression. Experience Level: Suitable for intermediate to experienced aquarists due to their size and care requirements. A larger tank and understanding of water quality maintenance are essential. Water Parameters: Prefer slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.5-7.5) and a temperature range between 72-82°F (22-28°C). Adequate filtration and regular water changes are crucial for their well-being.
