Rocket Tail Damsel – Neopomacentrus azysron

Overview:
The Rocket Tail Damsel is a small, hardy, and active marine fish recognized by its shimmering blue to yellow body and distinctive forked “rocket-like” tail. Peaceful for a damsel, it makes a colorful and manageable choice for reef aquariums.

Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific, often found in coastal reefs and lagoons.

Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on marine flakes, pellets, frozen mysis, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood.

Tank Mates:
Generally peaceful compared to other damselfish. Can be kept with reef-safe fish, invertebrates, and corals, though may defend a small territory.

Aggression:
Low to moderate – less aggressive than many damselfish, especially in larger aquariums.

Experience Level:
Beginner-friendly – excellent for new saltwater hobbyists due to its resilience.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C)

  • pH: 8.1–8.4

  • Salinity: 1.020–1.025

  • Minimum Tank Size: 30+ gallons
