Rohtee Barb (Rohtee ogilii)

Overview

The Rohtee Barb is a small, active freshwater barb with sleek, elongated body and subtle yet attractive coloration. Peaceful and schooling in nature, it adds lively movement and interest to community aquariums.

Origin

Native to South Asia, particularly India and surrounding regions. Inhabits rivers, streams, and ponds with moderate flow, sandy or gravel substrates, and aquatic vegetation.

Feeding

Omnivorous. Accepts high-quality flake foods, micro-pellets, frozen foods (bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp), and occasional live foods. A varied diet enhances coloration and overall health.

Tank Mates

Peaceful and best kept with other small, non-aggressive fish such as tetras, rasboras, danios, and other barbs. Avoid larger, predatory species.

Aggression

Very low. Exhibits schooling behavior; should be kept in groups of at least 6 to encourage natural activity and reduce stress.

Experience Level

Beginner to intermediate. Hardy and adaptable, suitable for a wide range of freshwater community setups.
