Schooling Bannerfish – Heniochus diphreutes
Overview:
The Schooling Bannerfish is a graceful and striking marine species, recognizable by its elongated dorsal fin and contrasting black, white, and yellow coloration. Known for its peaceful nature and social behavior, it thrives in groups, adding movement and vibrancy to reef and community aquariums.
Origin:
Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including Indonesia, the Philippines, and northern Australia.
Feeding:
Omnivorous — enjoys a diet of marine flakes, pellets, frozen mysis and brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood, with occasional algae grazing.
Tank Mates:
Ideal for peaceful reef and community tanks, best kept in small groups of 3 or more. Compatible with tangs, clownfish, gobies, and other non-aggressive species.
Aggression:
Very peaceful, non-territorial.
Experience Level:
Suitable for intermediate aquarists, as they require stable water quality and adequate tank space for schooling behavior.
